I basically gave this book 3.5/5 stars, out of which 1 star is all for the addictiveness of the book. I don’t why I am sounding all bitter over the book but honestly I am not. And so they are the perfect match BUT of course Persephone doesn’t believe so and we don’t know if Hades believes that because basically this is in first person persective so all we get is Persephone ranting over things.

In this retelling, Persephone is kinda annoying at times like a lot of trashy romance MCs and Hades is kinda secretive and a lot of trashy romance MCs.

Now, I do believe there might be some role of Stockholm syndrome in the Persephone falling for Hades considering he, well, kidnapped her, we are going to ignore that and see it as one big romance.

Persephone and Hades’ story is one of my favourite Greek lores! The God of Underworld falls in love with the Goddess of Spring. And so when I stumbled upon A Touch of Darkness one day over instagram, I knew I had to read it. I have been forever fascinated with Greek mythology, I was already mesmerised by their stories before I even read Percy Jackson and reading Rick Riordan’s Greek Mythology inspired series only increased my love for it. Mortals need hope, not threats of punishment. Life is hard out there, Hades, and sometimes living it is penance enough. As she struggles to sow the seeds of her freedom, love for the God of the Dead grows-and it’s forbidden. The bet does more than expose Persephone’s failure as a Goddess, however. Hades, God of the Dead, has built a gambling empire in the mortal world and his favorite bets are rumored to be impossible.Īfter a chance encounter with Hades, Persephone finds herself in a contract with the God of the Dead and the terms are impossible: Persephone must create life in the Underworld or lose her freedom forever. After moving to New Athens, she hopes to lead an unassuming life disguised as a mortal journalist. The truth is, since she was a little girl, flowers have shriveled at her touch. Persephone is the Goddess of Spring by title only.
